List of Important digital initiatives in higher education.
1)ATAL RANKING OF INSTITUTIONS ON INNOVATION ACHIEVEMENTS (ARIIA)
For promoting the innovation and entrepreneurship development in India a join initiative taken by ministry of human resource development and AICTE which rank the higher education institutions and universities to boost the research, innovation and entrepreneurship. This initiative launched on 2018 but first edition of was started on 2019.
Seven parameters of ARIIA and their weightage to promote innovation and entrepreneurship india.

2)E-BASTA
In hindi BASTA means school bag. This initiative launched for helping the students to reduce the burden of bags. E-BASTA provide the digital bag of school books which the students can access easily in e book format
E-BASTA the digital india platform launched on 1st July 2015 which is run by central for development of advanced computing .This initiative encourage the online learning among the students. E-BASTA website loaded with different kinds of books which is the students can access in anytime from anywhere as per their convenience.
Stakeholders involved in this initiative are
Teachers: browse the content pick what suites and organise the content
Students: search any content and download and read whenever it requires
Publishers: upload and manage the content
3) IMPACTING RESEARCH INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY (IMPRINT)
IMPRINT is a Pan India initiative taken by MHRD with the joint collaboration of IIT and IISC in order to address the major challenging areas of science and engineering field. This initiative was launched on 5 November 2015.
This initiative enable the nation to achieve advancement in science innovation modern technology and engineering fields.
Major Aims
- Developing new engineering education policy
- Creating a road map to pursue engineering challenges
4)GYAN VANI
Gyan Vani is a bouquet of frequency modulation radio channel launched by joint contribution of IGNOU and IITs. It was launched on 2000, under which different classroom initiative and educational content telecast on Gyan Vani channel.
5) SWAYAM(Study webs of active learning for young aspiring minds)
Under the program of digital initiative Government of India with MHRD and AICTE launched swayam in MOOC platform with the helps of Microsoft. It is designed to achieve the three major principles of education policy i.e Access, Equity and Quality.
It was launched by Shri ramnath kovind on 9th July 2017 on occasion of Guru Purnima. Under this program different educational content has prepared by best professors of India from IIT IIM and central universities which is accessible by all student in a free of cost. It hosting the different courses from class 9th to post graduation. SWAYAM content prepared by more than thousands of specially choose faculty and teachers from across the country.The courses hosted by swayam has four quadrants
1) Video lectures
2) Specially prepared a reading materials that can be downloaded or printed
3) Self assessment tests
4) An online discussion forum for clearing the doubts
In order to prepare and delivered the quality content nine National coordinators have been appointed they are;
1)AICTE for technical education
2)NPTEL for engineering
3)UGC for non technical and post graduation education
4)CEC for undergraduate education
5)NCERT and NIOS for school educationIGNOU for distance education
6)IIMB for management studies
7)NITTTR for teacher training program
6) SWAYAM PRABHA
Swayam Prabha is a group of 34 free DTH channels for education which is broadcast on 24 * 7 basis. This program was launched along with the swayam on 9th July 2017. It makes the students to feel the classroom experience in home. The various type of courses has offered here from class 9th to IIT level.
This program was launched with the help of GSAT-15 satellite and channels are up linked by BISAG. Everyday they will be a new content for at least 4 hours which could be repeated five more times in a day. Content coordinators are NPTEL,IIT,UGC CEC,IGNOU, NCERT and NIOS. The web portal is managed by INFLIBNET.
7) NATIONAL ACADEMIC DEPOSITORY(NAD).
This digital initiative of higher education was started by ministry of human resource Development under under NMEICT. National academic depository is a digital repository for academic institutions which we can Store certificates diplomas degree mark sheets etc in digital form. It is a digital Bank for the institutions, the students can easily access and retrieve their documents anytime. NAD introduced two types of digital depository platforms viz CDSL and NSDL, these manage the entire operations of NAD.
8) NATIONAL DIGITAL LIBRARY OF INDIA (NDL)
National digital library as a name indicates it provides a digital space for the books, articles, videos, audio, and other educational content. The students can access different types of books anytime anywhere since it provides 24 * 7 facility. National digital library consisting of minimum 70 lakh books which can access freely.
9)E-Yantra
E-Yantra this digital education initiated by IIT Bombay to develop the education in embedded systems and robotics. E-Yantra initiative runned by more than hundred colleges in which the students acquired the knowledge of robotics engineering applied science and mathematics etc. This project was prepared by prof Kavi Arya and Kirti ramamritham of IIT Bombay.
10)E-shodh sindhu
E-shodh sindhu is another digital initiative started in 2015 by MHRD by forming a consortia of three agencies namely UGC INFONET digital library consortium, NLIST & INDEST-AICTE consortium.
This initiative provides a quality resources in electronic form to universities colleges and other institutions; the resource includes journals research articles database and bibliographies.
E-Sindhu consist 10000 e journals and 3000000 ebooks.
The Indian education system launching various kinds of digital initiatives in higher education that helps to enhance the quality, accessibility and efficiency of learning.
