SWAYAM, SWAYAM PRABHA,MOOC
1) SWAYAM( STUDY WEB OF ACTIVE LEARNING FOR YOUNG ASPIRING MINDS)
It is a program of MHRD, Government of India and AICTE that enables the professors and faculties of generally founded institutions like IIT,IIM to offer the online courses to students.
Ex-President of India Pranab Mukherjee launched the SWAYAM and SWAYAM PRABHA courses on 9 July 2017 on occasion of Guru Purnima which designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of education policy viz, Access, Equity and quality.
Swayam(Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) is an online platform initiated by the Government of India to provide free online courses and learning resources. These courses cover a wide range of subjects and are offered by various Indian universities and educational institutions. Swayam courses are designed to make education more accessible and can be a valuable resource for self-paced learning.
SWAYAM provides and integrated platform and portal for online courses, using information and communication technology covering High school till all higher education subjects and skill sector courses to ensure that every student benefit from learning material through ICT;
- one stop web and mobile based interactive e-content for all courses from high school to university level.
- High quality learning experience using multimedia on anytime, anywhere basis.
- state of the art system that allows easy access, monitoring and certification.
- peer group interaction and discussion forum to clarify doubts.
- Hybrid model of delivery that adds to the quality of classroom teaching.
Four quadrant approach of SWAYAM:
Quadrant-1
It consist e-Tutorials; which shall contain: video and audio content in an organised form, animations, simulations,video demonstrations, virtual labs, etc along with the transcription of video.
Quadrant-2
E-content which shall contain; self instructional material, e-books, illustrations, case studies, presentations etc and also contain web resources such as further references, related links, open source content on internet, video, case studies, books including e-books, research papers and journals, anecdotal information, historical development of the subject, articles,etc.
Quadrant-3
It includes discussion forum for raising of doubts and clarifying them on a near real time bases by the course coordinator or his team.
Quadrant-4
It contains assessment, which shall contain; problems and solutions, which could be in form of multiple choice questions, fill in the blanks, matching questions, short answers,long answer questions, quizzes, assignments and the solutions, discussion forum topic and setting up to frequently asked the questions, classification on general misconceptions.
The SWAYAM shall cover the following.
a)curriculum based course contents covering diverse disciplines such as arts,science, commerce, performing arts, social science and humanities, engineering, technology, law, medicine agriculture, etc in higher education domain (all courses to be certification ready).
b) School education (9-12 levels) modules; for teacher training as well as teaching and learning AIDS to learners to help them understand the subjects better and also to help them in better preparedness for competitive examinations for admissions to professional degree programs.
c)skill based courses; which cover both post- higher secondary school skills that are presently the domain of polytechnic as well as industrial skills certified by the sector skill councils of various ministries.
d)Advanced curriculum and professional certification under a unified scheme in a higher education domain that can be tailored to meet the demands of choice based credit system currently being implemented in India at undergraduate level.
e) curriculum and courses that can meet the needs of life-long learners.
SWAYAM PRABHA
The SWAYAM PRABHA is a group of 32 DTH channels devoted to telecasting of high quality educational program on 24 X 7 bases using the GSAT-15 satellite. Everyday there will be a new content for at least four hours which would be be repeated five more times in a day, that allowing the students to choose the time as per their convenience. Channels are up linked from BISAG,Gandhinagar. Contents are provided by NPTEL,IITs,UGC,CEC,IGNOU,NCERT,NIOS,
